General Questions

Q. – My property has been damaged. What do I do?
A. – Contact NiteOwl Restoration immediately so you know help is on the way. Report the damages to your insurance company while help is on the way. If during business hours you may call your agent or for 24 hour assistance most insurance companies have a toll free call center to report you claim.

Q. – I have damaged items and valuables in my home. What do I do?
A. – If the items are salvageable, NiteOwl Restoration will inventory all of your personal property, pack up, restore and/or clean, store at a climate controlled location, and return your property by completion of your fire or water damage restoration. Items that can not be repaired or cleaned may be replaced if you have proper coverage. NiteOwl Restoration asks that you keep all jewelry, important documents, firearms and sentimental items in your possession.

Q. – Do I get a warranty after work is completed?
A. – Upon the satisfactory completion of all services required, NiteOwl Restoration will present you with a Certificate of Satisfaction and a 1 year warranty on all workmanship.

Claim Process
Q. – I am confused by all the different people who are involved with my claim. Can you explain who they are?
A. – Your insurance agent, who sold you your policy, is the insurance company’s representative. The insurance adjuster, who is assigned to your claim and actually visits your home, will work with us to approve and pay for the fire and water damage restoration based upon your insurance policy coverage limits. NiteOwl Restoration, your restoration contractor, has been hired by you and will assist and take the stress and confusion away from you and work with all the parties to repair your damaged property while keeping you informed every step of the way.

Q. – Should I shop around to ensure I get the best pricing?
A. – Nite Owl Restoration offers a promise to provide fair and accurate pricing. NiteOwl Restoration uses a program called Xactimate which is one of the most well recognized, industry standard estimating software available. It is imperative that you choose a certified fire and water damage restoration firm, such as Nite Owl Restoration, as soon as possible to prevent further damages, and to ensure your claim will be covered by your policy.

Q. – How does the claim get paid?
A. – NiteOwl Restoration will provide a detailed repair estimate to the insurance adjuster using insurance approved software called Xactimate. Your adjuster will review and approve the estimate and issue payment to you, less your deductible. The deductible is your only out of pocket expense and is due by completion of drying or before reconstruction, if needed.

Q. – I received the insurance payment and the mortgage company’s name has been included. What do I do?
A. – The check must be sent in and/or endorsed by the mortgage company. We will work with your mortgage company and provide them with the necessary claim documents so they can process the insurance payment. They will process the payments so that the fire and water damage restoration work can progress. Depending on the insurance payment amount and damages, your mortgage company will either issue you full payment or in stages.

Water Damage
Q. – My property is flooded with water!! What should I do?
A. – First stop the source of water, if you can do so safely, and then call NiteOwl Restoration immediately! NiteOwl Restoration is available 24/7 and can be at your home or business within 2 hours or less to remove all standing water and begin the drying process. Q. – Does standing water mean that my carpet or flooring is ruined?
A. – One of the biggest issues with water damage is the effect on floors and carpet. NiteOwl Restoration understands these issues and is why we try and get to your home or business as soon as possible to prevent further damages to your flooring, and ease the water damage restoration process. For carpeted areas and depending on the type of water damage that is present, you can expect the padding to be removed immediately as we try to salvage your carpet. For wood floors, tile and laminate flooring, depending on the material, these flooring will be either dried in place or removed.

Q. – There is an odor now, should I be worried?
A. – Lingering odors are normal during the drying process but will disappear after the structure is completely dry.

Q. – How long will it take to repair the water damage?
A. – Depending how much standing water is present, the extraction can be completed in as little as 5 minutes to a few hours. To completely dry the structure may take 3-5 days depending on class of loss.

Q. – How do I know when my structure is completely dry?
A. – Even though the walls or floor appear to be dry, the only way to detect the moisture content is by utilizing water detection instruments such as thermal cams and moisture meters. Our technicians take moisture readings at your home or business daily and will let you know when your structure is completely dry.

Upon arrival we will inspect the damages, implement temporary solutions to prevent your home or business from further damages and work with your insurance company and adjuster throughout the fire damage restoration process, to get your home or business back to a pre-loss condition in as little down time as possible.

Q. – How is my fire damage going to be repaired?
A. – Fire and smoke damages require a highly specialized process in order to be returned to pre-fire condition. Methods for each smoke or fire damage restoration in homes or businesses vary. NiteOwl Restoration are experts in fire damage restoration and will do what it takes to bring your property back to its original state or better, like the fire or smoke damage never happened.
